Synthesize o f Cu2O-SiO2 composite: The effect of silica content
Abstract
Composite x% Cu2O-SiO2, where x% is the ratio of SiO2/(SiO2 + Cu2O) in weight, were synthesized by hydrothermal method. Firstly, Cu2O nanocubes were dispensed using mixed ethanol-water solvent. Then, SiO2 were combined by hydrolysing of Si(OC2H5)4. The resulting materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), infrared spectroscopy (IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), UV-vis diffuse reflection spectroscopy (UV-Vis DRS) and nitrogen adsorption-desorption at 77 K. The results showed that the amount of silica incorporated to the materials have influence on the structure and optical properties of composite materials.
