Abstract

Magnetic UiO-66-NO2/Fe3O4 nanoparticles has been successfully synthesized and used for the effective removal of methylene blue (MB) from water. Various techniques including SEM, EDS, Elemental mapping, FT-IR, BET were used to evaluate the structure, morphology, composition, elemental distribution, and specific surface area of the as-prepared UiO-66-NO2/Fe3O4. The adsorption ability of UiO-66-NO2/Fe3O4 was evaluated through its removal performance of MB from aqueous solution. The results showed that over 80% MB was removed after 100 minutes. In addition, the kinetic of MB adsorption of UiO-66-NO2/Fe3O4 was also confirmed that followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Finally, the recover of the UiO-66-NO2/Fe3O4 by using magnets and reuse it over 4 cycles was also confirmed.
