Preparation of 10 wt% CuO/Al2O3 catalyst by non-thermal plasma technique applied to complete oxidation reaction of VOC
Abstract
In this paper, the process of prepared 10 wt% Cu/g-Al2O3 catalysts was studied by different methods such as: Non-thermal plasma (NTP) method, wet impregnation (IMP) and deposition–precipitation (DP). The changes in structure and texture of the catalysts were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The activities of catalyst for VOC oxidation were also measured in gas-phase reactions. The Cu/g-Al2O3 catalyst prepared by non-thermal plasma technique (NTP) was superior to those obtained from the impregnation (IMP) and deposition-precipitation (DP). Besides that, the catalyst prepared with this technique significantly enhanced the removal efficiency of VOC compared to other methods. The complete oxidation of VOCs to CO2 and H2O was achieved above 250oC. Comparison of three oxidation methods, the efficiency increased by 15 – 30% using the NTP.
