Synthesis of Cu2O-ZnO nanocomposite, enhanced photocatalytic activities in the visible light region

Abstract

Cu2O-ZnO nanocomposite materials were synthesized by coprecipitation method. The resulting materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and UV-vis diffuse reflection spectroscopy (UV-Vis DRS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue in aqueous solution by the composite materials in the visible light  has been investigated. The results showed that the photocatalytic efficiency all composites Cu2O-ZnO much higher than that of either pure Cu2O or ZnO.
