Abstract

The fabrication of the porphyrin@TiO2-graphene nanostructured material was carried out using a self-assembly method in the presence of a surfactant. The nanostructure of the obtained material was investigated by UV-VIS spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and SEM analysis techniques. The porphyrin@TiO2-graphene composite material consists of a uniform distribution of TiO2 particles with a size of 15-30 nm and aggregated porphyrin nanorods with a width of 50-60 nm and a length of several hundred nm on the graphene surface. The application of the three-component porphyrin@TiO2-graphene nanostructured composite material in the photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B pollutant has been reported, in which TiO2 and porphyrin aggregates exhibited activity in the UV and visible light regions, respectively, resulting in a composite material with high activity. The possible photocatalytic mechanism of the RhB photodegradation process using the porphyrin@TiO2-graphene material has also been discussed.
