Preparation of 12-phosphotungstic acid immobilized on ZSM-5/SBA-15 support for Fructone fragrancy synthesis
Abstract
In this paper, heterogeneous catalyst of 12-phosphotungstic acid (HPA) immobilized on ZSM5/SBA-15 support with different Si/Al molar ratios was studied by the contact between HPA acid catalyst and ion-exchanged Brønsted sites of the support. The presence, content of HPA and its effect on the support were characterized by EDX, FTIR, XRD, BET and NH3-TPD methods. The results showed that HPA catalyst can be immobilized up to 19.60 wt.% on ZSM5/SBA-15 support with Si/Al molar ratio of 50, indicating the high acidity of prepared material. The catalytic performance of prepared materials was evaluated in the acetalization of ethyl acetoacetate with ethylene glycol (polar reactant) to synthesize fructone fragrancy. The ethyl acetoacetate conversion over the best catalyst is 94.78%, higher than that over HPA catalyst (88.84%), showing that prepared material was potential heterogeneous catalyst for organic synthesis, especially in the presence of polar reactants.
