Abstract

Bentonite nanostructure (UB) has been fabricated by ultrasonic - assisted activation route and used as an adsorbent to efficiently remove Mn(II) from aqueous solution. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed that using ultrasound irradiation led to a bentonite nanostructure. At the time of C = 0,1%Co and C = 0,05Co, the maximum bed capacities is 1253,69 mg/L (3,76 mg/g), downtime is 0,437 h and 1680,24 mg/L (5,04 mg/g), downtime is 2,571 h; This study indicated that the UB can be used as an effective and environmentally friendly adsorbent for the treatment of Mn(II) ions in aqueous solutions.
