TEMPO catalyst for electrosynthesis of benzonitrile from benzyl alcohol
Abstract
In this work, requirements for using TEMPO (2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1-oxyl) as an electrocatalyst in the organic electrosynthesis of benzonitrile from benzyl alcohol have been investigated. The study has indicated that TEMPO expresses high catalytic activity in the electrosynthesis of benzonitrile from benzyl alcohol with the presence of ammonium acetate. The electrolysis yield with TEMPO catalyst was 94 %.
