Study on the effect of several factors on the adsorption properties of La2O3-CeO2 mixed oxides toward asenic in aqueous solution
Abstract
The La2O3-CeO2 mixed oxit nanomaterials was synthesized by the combustion sol -gel using gelatine in the following condition: pH 4, formation gel temperature of 80oC, La(NO3)3/Ce(NO3)4 molar ratio of 1/1, (La(NO3)3-Ce(NO3)4)/gelatine ratio of 1/1, calcination temperature of 550oC for 2 hours. The synthesized material has particle size < 50 nm. It is effective for the arsenic adsortion in synthetic groundwater. Arsenic adsorption capacity increases with increasing pH from 2 to 5.8 and decreases with increasing pH from 5.8 to 9. The Fe(III), Mn(II), SO42- and Cl- cation singnificantly compete with arsenic adsorption.
